Delhi- Dimapur Flight Fire: A fire broke out on board an IndiGo aircraft at Delhi airport on Sunday after a passenger’s power bank caught fire while the plane was taxiing for take-off to Dimapur, Nagaland. The crew acted immediately to extinguish the flames, ensuring the safety of all passengers and preventing any injuries.

The incident occurred on IndiGo flight 6E 2107, which had just begun taxiing when smoke was noticed. According to the airline, the fire originated from a personal electronic device kept inside a seat-back pocket. The crew followed safety procedures and managed to put out the fire within seconds, the airline said in a statement.

As a precautionary measure, the aircraft returned to the bay for inspection. All passengers and crew were safe and no damage was reported. Relevant authorities were immediately informed, in accordance with standard protocol.

Following all necessary safety checks, the aircraft was cleared for operation and later resumed its journey. According to flight-tracking website Flightradar24, the flight, operated with an Airbus A320neo, departed from Delhi at 2:33 PM and landed in Dimapur at 4:45 PM. The flight had originally been scheduled to take off at 12:25 PM.

“We thank our valued customers for their calm and cooperation during the incident. Our teams made all possible efforts to minimise inconvenience, including offering refreshments,” IndiGo said.

 

The PTI report cited Sources as stating that, the cabin crew’s quick response helped prevent a potentially serious situation. The airline did not disclose the number of passengers on board but confirmed that the matter was handled as per safety guidelines.

In separate news, an Air China flight from Hangzhou to Seoul was forced to make an emergency landing in Shanghai after a lithium battery in an overhead compartment caught fire mid-air, triggering panic among passengers. The crew quickly doused the flames, preventing injuries. A viral video showed smoke and chaos inside the cabin. Air China said the fire was extinguished within minutes, and passengers were later rebooked on another flight after safely evacuating, crediting the crew’s swift action for averting disaster.
