Delhi Assembly Election 2025 HIGHLIGHTS: Voting Concludes In National Capital, 57% Voter Turnout Recorded Till 5 PM

Delhi logged a voter turnout of 57.70 per cent till 5 PM in Delhi Assembly Election 2025, with the Northeast district recording the highest turnout of 63.83 per cent, according to the Election Commission. The New Delhi district recorded the lowest at 54.37 per cent.

North Delhi: 57.24 per cent
Central Delhi: 55.24 per cent
Southeast Delhi: 53.77 per cent

The Aam Aadmi Party and BJP exchanged allegations of voting malpractices across various constituencies, including fake voting and distribution of money, as polling for 70 Assembly seats in Delhi takes place on Wednesday. Police dismissed claims, citing security measures, while political leaders shared videos and demanded action.

Delhi records 46.55% voter turnout till 3 pm, as per Election Commission of India.

A unique polling station has been set up in Delhi's Vikaspuri with the theme 'Chandrayan se chunav tak Bharat ki udaan'. Telescopes and bioscopes have been installed and volunteers have been dressed up as astronauts to assist voters.

Vikaspuri SDM and Returning Officer Dr Nitin Shakya said, "Theme of this polling station is Chandrayaan se chunav tak' and we have showcased models of Chandryaan and PSLV which have been made by students of Rajdhani College, Shivaji College and Bharti College. Volunteers have dressed up as astronauts to assist voters. We have even installed a bioscope for people to relive old memories and we have even compared bioscope with telescope. People are very happy with the unique arrangements here.",

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Wednesday alleged that one of his party workers, Uday Gill, who had recently joined the party was detained by the police "without" any reason. Taking to X, Sanjay Singh wrote, "One of our workers, Uday, has been detained at the Mandir Marg police station without any reason. I am present at the police station."

However, the official handle of DCP New Delhi in a post of X, wrote, "He is detained as he was physically forcing people to come on particular political party table along with his accomplice."

Singh has further alleged that BJP workers are not allowing AAP workers to sit at the table near a polling booth."BJP's hooliganism at Tughlaq Lane booth is not allowing our workers to sit at the table," Singh posted on X.

Replying to this post of the AAP member of Parliament, DCP New Delhi said that the table placed by AAP workers was "extra" and violated guidelines of the Election Commission of India. "There was an extra table and party symbol on table violating the ECI guideline therefore the extra table and party symbol was removed," the social media post read.,

After a voter alleged fake voting at a polling booth set up in Aryan Public School, Block Level Officer, Seelampur, Sabina Sadiq says, "A woman voter who had come to vote was told that her vote has already been cast. At that moment, the voting was temporarily halted."

Delhi Police says, "A PCR call was made by one 26-year-old Mohini, resident of Usmanpur, alleging that her vote had already been cast by someone else. The enquiry revealed that confusion arose due to a voter having a similar name, Munni Devi, aged 60 years having the same address. The 60-year-old woman was an earlier tenant at the same address. After verification, the Presiding Officer allowed both women to cast vote.",

Delhi Election Voter Turnout: Delhi has recorded a voter turnout of 33.31 per cent till 1 pm. The Northeast district, housing communally tensed areas including Maujpur and Seelampur, has recorded the highest turnout at over 39 per cent while the posh Central Delhi has recorded the lowest turnout at 29.74 per cent.

An attempt was made to cast 'fake votes' in the Kasturba Nagar assembly constituency of Delhi, ANI reported citing  Delhi Police sources. Two people attempted to cast fake votes at Savodaya Vidyalaya in the Andrews Ganj area of the Kasturba Nagar assembly constituency.

Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena said, “I am confident that the people of Delhi will vote in large numbers and choose their government. It is also important because it decides what you want in your city, state. There are many things in Delhi that are on people’s radar. As Delhi is gearing up for polls, security has been beefed up along border areas. Security forces conducted vehicle checking along 11 border areas on Tuesday night, Joint CP Law and Order (L&O), Noida said.
