Farmers Protest LIVE Updates: Three Union ministers will meet farmer leaders in Chandigarh today for another round of talks as the standoff between the protesters and police at the Punjab-Haryana border entered its third day on Thursday. Thousands of farmers with enough ration and diesel on their trollies are marching towards Delhi, putting several demands before the central government. The demands include a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP), implementation of MS Swaminathan committee recommendations, higher sugar cane prices, a Rs 10,000 monthly pension for farmers above 60 and many more.
On Wednesday, security personnel shelled the "Delhi Chalo" demonstrators at the Shambhu border post near Ambala intermittently. Agitators tried to break barricades blocking their protest march to the national capital at the Shambhu Border. Several farmers were detained after the fierce clash. A high alert was sounded in Punjab and hospitals were asked to make requisite arrangements in the wake of farmers getting injured.
