Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway Update: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials on Friday stated that the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway will go through upgrading works in the upcoming months. They further stated that the works will be conducted to provide convenience to the commuters travelling between the expressway and Dwarka Expressway. They further stated that the upgrade work will provide relief to the residents of multiple regions by reducing traffic congestion and cutting the travel time significantly.
While providing details, the officials stated that the NHAI has decided to upgrade the surface drain from Dhaula Kuan to Kherki Daula, adding that the residents have been demanding to upgrade it for several months. They stated that with an estimated cost of Rs 245 crore, the authority is planning to upgrade the road surface to eliminate the issue of waterlogging in the area. The residents of these areas have to face inconvenience, especially in the months of monsoon, due to traffic congestion and water leakage.

They further stated that the aim of the authority is to bring the expressway to current national highway standards. “Tenders are to be invited within one or two days. We hope it will iron out many issues of Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and bring it to current national highway standards,” NHAI project director Akash Padhi was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
Earlier in April, NHAI had stated that maintenance and repair work on the expressway is inevitable as it has been handling an enormous traffic load for the past few years. It stated that more than 300,000 passenger car units cross on the expressway, much higher than the expected pressure. The authority stated that the damaged metal beam barriers will be replaced with solid crash barriers. Apart from this, the service road between Hero Honda Chowk and Kherki Daula toll plaza will get maintained.
