Delhi Metro News: If pollution increases in Delhi, the number of metro trips in a day will increase so that people can use metro more as a public transport for commuting. Also, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has appealed to people to leave their personal vehicles and use public transport for commuting to avoid traffic jams on the roads and to prevent pollution during the festive season.
DMRC said that the metro makes about 4200 trips per day. When the restrictions of Grape 2 are implemented, the metro will make 40 additional trips per day. Grape 2 restrictions can be implemented if the air index reaches more than 300 and reaches the very poor category. In such a situation, the metro will make 40 additional trips on all working days.
Besides, 20 additional trips will be increased if the restrictions of Grape 3 are implemented in the national capital. The 60 additional trips will be increased on every working day as compared to normal days.
DMRC also added that during the festival time, the pressure of vehicles on the roads increases, leading to traffic jams and pollution. To avoid this, people can travel more in the metro. The number of passengers in the metro is also expected to increase, so it has been decided to increase the number of metro trips.
