The entire Delhi-NCR region experienced earthquake tremors on Monday morning. The epicentre of the 4.0 magnitude quake was located in the Dhaula Kuan area. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the tremors were felt around 5:37 AM in Delhi-NCR. The earthquake had a depth of five kilometres below the surface and a recorded magnitude of 4.0.
The jolts not only created panic among the residents but also disrupted the operations of both the DMRC and RRTS.
The earthquake in NCR affected the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). The first Namo Bharat train, which was supposed to depart from Meerut South for Delhi at 6 AM, did not run today. Passengers arriving at the station were surprised to hear repeated announcements from RRTS. The announcements stated that the train's operations were delayed due to technical issues.
Similarly, DMRC (Delhi Metro) also faced issues. Commuters travelling by metro to their offices faced significant problems. Between 6 and 7 AM, no trains were running.
While some people left the station after waiting for a while, others continued waiting in the hope that train services would resume soon. At exactly 6:57 AM, RRTS announced that a train would depart from Meerut South at 7 AM for New Ashok Nagar. Hearing this announcement, passengers rushed to the station.

Once aboard the train, passengers were hopeful it would reach their destination quickly. However, the train's slow speed frustrated many. The train took about 90 minutes, nearly double the usual time to reach its destination.
