The Election Commission has asked state-owned NHAI to go ahead with the calculation of new user fee (toll) rates on highways starting from today. The annual revision of toll hikes, which was likely to be in the range of an average 5 per cent, was set to come into effect from April 1.
With this, the rates of tolls will increase in Delhi-NCR including the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.
Toll Price For Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway:
The toll in Kashi will jump from Rs 160 to Rs 168 for light vehicles, and the same in Meerut will climb from Rs 250 to Rs 262.5, according to media reports.
Delhi-Gurugram Expressway and Sohna Elevated Road
For Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, the toll prices have been increased by four to five per cent. Vehicles plying on these roads will have to pay the toll with increased rates.
Private car owners need to pay Rs 85 per trip (previously Rs 80) at Kheri Daula toll plaza. Meanwhile, the toll for the light vehicles and mini buses remains still the same i.e., Rs 120. Buses, trucks and multiple-axle vehicles will have to pay a toll of Rs 250 per trip, Rs 5 more than the previous charge.
At Sohna toll plaza, the commuters will need to pay Rs 125 per trip. Meanwhile, light commercial vehicles will have to pay the toll with an increase of Rs 5. Those vehicles will pay Rs 205 per trip. Buses and trucks with two axles will now pay Rs 430, while those with three axles will pay Rs 465.
Rates of Monthly Passes Have Also Been Changed
The price of monthly passes has also been increased. With the new rates coming into effect, the passes for personal cars will now charge Rs 930, meanwhile, commercial vehicles will now have to pay Rs 1,225 for the same, according to a report by the Hindustan Times.
