Delhi-NCR Traffic: Commuters across the national capital are frustrated as traffic congestion has reached record levels. Traffic movement came to a standstill on Thursday, causing bumper-to-bumper chaos on major routes like Outer Ring Road and Ring Road in South Delhi, Mathura Road between Pragati Maidan and Badarpur border, Aurobindo Marg, Barapullah Elevated Road, Delhi Noida Direct (DND) Flyway, and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway leading to Ghaziabad.

This situation was similar on Wednesday as well. This is not an individual issue; residents and tourists alike are grappling with hours of traffic on the roads.

Google Maps has been reflecting a sea of red across the national capital and its surrounding areas, highlighting the severity of gridlock during the festive season. With the festive season approaching, the main roads across Delhi, as well as in Ghaziabad and Noida in Uttar Pradesh, and Gurugram and Faridabad in Haryana, remain crowded for most of the day.

Delhi-NCR Traffic Gridlock Draws Reactions On Internet

Commuters flooded social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) with posts about severe traffic jams.

“I’ve never seen traffic like this in Delhi! Been stuck in the same spot for over 2 hours nothing’s moving. Called 112 three-four times, but the call kept dropping and no one called back. What a mess! With the festival season ahead, this is pathetic planning by the authorities,” a user wrote on X.

“How can there be traffic jams in all parts of Delhi during Diwali. This seems to be a conspiracy to trouble residents of Delhi/NCR. What are the police and traffic police doing about it? Utterly nonsense situation,” another user wrote.

Delhi Police Personnel Deployed, Leaves Cancelled

Following the bumper-to-bumper chaos on several major routes, the Delhi Police personnel have been deployed across the city, and leave has been cancelled to manage traffic efficiently.

“Personnel on motorcycles have been deployed and leaves have been cancelled. We are fully prepared to manage the rush and ensure smoother movement in the coming days,” news agency PTI quoted Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ajay Chaudhary as saying.
