Delhi-NCR Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several regions of Delhi and nearby cities are likely to witness light rain on January 1, 2026. The weather department stated that the capital city will continue to witness a cold wave and dense fog, especially in the morning hours. The presence of dense fog will continue to disrupt the flight and train services. It further stated that the minimum temperature in these regions is likely to drop in the upcoming days. The IMD stated that the air quality is not likely to significantly improve in the next few days, advising the residents to limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

While providing details, the weather department stated that the capital city is likely to witness dense fog on the last day of the year, December 31. The presence of fog has severely affected the flight and train services to Delhi, leading to inconveniences for the passengers. However, several regions of the national capital are likely to witness light rain on Thursday, January 1.

The weather department stated that the minimum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, adding that it was 2.6 degrees Celsius higher than Monday. Apart from this, the maximum temperature was recorded at 21.5 degrees Celsius. While the capital city is likely to witness light rain till Saturday, the temperature is slightly likely to increase after that.

The IMD stated that a western disturbance is developing over the Himalayan region, leading to rainfall in several regions on January 1. Apart from Delhi-NCR, several other states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, and Haryana, are likely to witness rain till January 3.

The air quality is not likely to improve significantly in the upcoming days, leading to inconveniences for the residents.
