Delhi-NCR Weather: Rain, Gusty Winds Lash National Capital, Noida; IMD Issues Yellow Alert | Check Forecast

Delhi-NCR Weather Update: A sudden spell of heavy rain and a dust storm lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Wednesday evening, bringing much-needed relief after an unusually warm beginning to March.

The downpour, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds gusting up to 50 km/h, battered Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Gurugram, leaving vehicles stranded and causing inconvenience to people returning from work.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed the national capital on a yellow alert for the next two days, warning of winds gusting up to 40-50 kmph accompanied by light rainfall.

Western Disturbance To Bring Rain, Gusty Winds: IMD

According to the weather department, a western disturbance is likely to affect weather conditions in the national capital and surrounding areas from Wednesday to Friday, bringing light rain, cloudy skies, and gusty winds.

Temperature To Drop In Coming Days

Delhi's temperatures, which have remained above normal for most of March, are expected to ease in the coming days. While the national capital witnessed temperatures between 32 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, the mercury is expected to drop to around 29 degrees Celsius on Thursday. On Friday, the maximum temperature would further drop to 27 degrees Celsius.

"The maximum may hover between 29°C and 31°C on Thursday and decrease further, to between 27°C and 29°C on Friday," Hindustan Times quoted an IMD official as saying.

Delhi-NCR Weather Forecast

March 19 (Thursday): According to the forecast, Delhi-NCR is expected to witness generally cloudy skies throughout the day. Light to light rainfall, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph.

March 20 (Friday): The IMD has forecast light to light rainfall, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and winds gusting up to 30-40 kmph throughout the day. Skies are expected to remain cloudy.
