Delhi Weather Update: A cold wave has gripped the entire North India. Delhi on Friday woke up to dense fog, which is causing low visibility on roads and highways increasing problems for the drivers. Delhi recorded 9.6 degrees Celsius at 5.30 AM on Friday. The air quality in the national capital has deteriorated from 'poor' to 'very poor', according to the India Meteorological Department. The AQI was recorded at 348 in Delhi today at 6 AM.

With the temperature falling, the homeless population in the city is turning to night shelters for warmth. The Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) has installed 235 pagoda tents to provide temporary housing. Night shelters are available across multiple locations in the capital, including AIIMS, Lodhi Road, and the Nizamuddin flyover.

With the temperatures continuing to fall, residents of the capital gathered around bonfires for warmth, while some found refuge in night shelters to protect themselves from the cold.

On Friday, North Indian states continued to face harsh winter conditions. Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow, the temperature is recorded at 8 degrees Celsius at 3.30 AM. The local administrations have set up temporary shelter homes for the homeless people. UP's Aligarh people were seen taking refuge in one of these shelters.

In Jammu and Kashmir's capital Srinagar, the temperature was recorded at -1.3 degrees Celsius at 5.30 AM.

The temperature was recorded at 10.2 degrees Celsius at 5.30 am today in Rajasthan. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma visited the winter shelter homes set up near Gandhinagar Railway Station on Thursday night to take stock of the arrangements. The Chief Minister was seen interacting with the homeless people and distributing blankets to them.

Weather Update: IndiGo Issues Advisory

Amid the intensifying fog situations, Indigo on Thursday issued a travel advisory for its flight operations in Srinagar as the region was experiencing snowfall impacting flight schedules.

"We wish the snowfall could take a brief pause, allowing us to ensure smooth travels for you once again. Stay warm and stay informed," the airlines stated.

Delhi Weather Update: IMD Issues Orange Alert

The weather department has predicted that smog and moderate to dense fog are likely in most places on Friday morning. There may be very dense fog in some places. The same situation will prevail in the evening and night as well. The sky will remain partly cloudy during the day.
The maximum and minimum temperatures may remain 17 and eight degrees respectively. The weather department has also issued an orange alert.
