Delhi Rain Alert: The residents of Delhi-NCR witnessed rain in the early hours of Tuesday, providing temporary relief from heat. Earlier on Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert at least till April 9. Along with rain, the capital city is also likely to witness strong surface winds and thunderstorms. The fresh rain will reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing relief from heat. However, it is also likely to cause waterlogging in several key regions, leading to inconveniences to the residents.
While providing details, the weather department stated that the latest change in weather is due to changing wind patterns and the influence of a western disturbance. The residents of the national capital are set to witness thunderstorms accompanied by light rain and gusty winds till Wednesday. Along with Delhi, the residents of other nearby cities, including Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad, are also set to witness similar weather conditions.
It asserted that while the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 31 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 20 degrees Celsius. However, the weather department asserted that the temperature is set to rise again from April 10, reported news agency ANI. The IMD has also advised the daily commuters to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly to avoid any inconveniences.
Apart from this, Delhi's air quality remained in the "moderate" category on Tuesday with an AQI of 134. As per the forecasts, the air quality of the national capital is likely to remain in the "moderate" category until April 9. According to the CPCB, while an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor', and 401 to 500 'severe'.
