Sexual Harassment Case: Delhi Police urged a court to frame charges against BJP MP and former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in a case of alleged sexual harassment of women wrestlers. This comes as Delhi Police on Saturday concluded its arguments on the framing of charges against Singh.
The police argued that the incidents of alleged sexual harassment that took place overseas and within the country including New Delhi, were part of the same transaction. Therefore, the court has jurisdiction to try this case.

Priyanka Rajpoot, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM), heard the arguments of Delhi Police and listed the matter for the next hearing. The court will take the next hearing on January 20 and 23.
Additional public prosecutor (APP) Atul Srivastava argued for Delhi police and said to attract the section of sexual harassment, intention is not required; merely knowledge is sufficient. Srivastava also that Bhushan, who earlier in his statement, said that he was acting in a fatherly manner while checking the breathing patterns of female wrestlers, shows he was aware of his act.
It was also submitted before the Court that the reason behind the delay in filing the complaints was that in the place where these women belonged, the game of wrestling was worshipped. For the girls, wrestling is everything. Hence, they were afraid to come out in the open, being scared of the fact that their wrestling career would be jeopardised, Delhi police submitted.
Last year on June 15, the city police filed a charge sheet against Singh, under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-D (stalking) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
