Earlier on May 22, several regions of the national capital had faced power outages due to the maintenance work due to the damage after severe rainfall and gusty winds. The electricity department had stated that the power supply will be disrupted in multiple areas, including South Extension, Chadha Farm, Vasant Enclave, Vasant Vihar, Maya Enclave, and Hari Nagar.
Earlier on May 19, ex-Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the power outages have begun in Delhi just months after the BJP has come into power. He stated that the power supply was never disrupted when the Aam Aadmi Party was in power. "Nowadays, there are three to four hour-long power cuts in Delhi, which did not happen earlier. Within three months, they (BJP) have started ruining the education in Delhi," Kejriwal stated.
However, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has assured that the residents will not face any trouble once the maintenance works are completed.
