Delhi experienced its warmest April night in three years on Sunday, as the minimum temperature rose to 26 degree celsius, 4.4 degrees above the seasonal average. The last time the city recorded such a high minimum was in 2022, when it reached 26.2 degree celsius. The maximum temperature on Sunday was 39.8 degree celsius, which is three degrees above normal.

Humidity levels in Delhi on Sunday ranged between 63 per cent and 38 per cent. According to the weather department, Monday is expected to bring partly cloudy skies, with temperatures likely to hover around 40 degree celsius during the day and 25 degree celsius at night.

As for air quality, the city recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 140 at 4 PM on Sunday, placing it in the 'moderate' category, as per data from the Central Pollution Control Board. To put that into perspective, an AQI between 0-50 is considered ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’, and 401-500 ‘severe’.

The weather in the National Capital and the NCR witnessed a dramatic shift on Friday evening, April 18, as heavy rains swept through parts of the national capital, offering a much-needed break from the intense heat. The downpour was accompanied by dust storms, lightning, and strong gusty winds that affected several areas across the region, including Noida and Ghaziabad.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted that Saturday’s weather in Delhi will start off as “pretty cloudy” in the morning, turning “generally cloudy” by evening. 

Light rain or drizzle is likely in some areas, along with chances of thunderstorms, lightning, and dust storms. Wind speeds are expected to pick up in the evening, ranging between 40–50 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 60 km/h. The day's temperatures are forecast to hover around 38 degree celsius for the maximum and 26 degree celsius for the minimum.
