In a shocking incident, a four-year-old girl was allegedly killed and raped by her uncle and her body was found in a jungle near Delhi’s Narela, news agency PTI reported citing police. The 35-year-old accused works as a daily wage labourer and was living in a rented accommodation with his wife and two children.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer-north) Ravi Kumar, the accused used to fight with his wife, telling her to return to her native place. However, his wife refused as she was working in a factory and earning money.
Following the dispute, the woman moved into the home of the accused's brother, who lived there with his family. On September 22, the accused visited his brother's residence to ask his wife to come back home. During the argument, he threatened to kidnap his brother's four-year-old daughter.
The family initially believed the accused was intoxicated. However, when the girl went missing, their suspicions grew, prompting them to contact the police, DCP Kumar said.
The DCP said that after receiving information about the incident, a police team was immediately rushed to the spot and the accused was arrested on Monday. The accused told the police that he had killed his niece after raping her. He then dumped her body in a jungle near their house in Delhi’s Narela.
The body of the child has been recovered and sent for postmortem examination. Further investigation into the matter is underway. In another incident, a fast-track court in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr sentenced a 36-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping his 60-year-old widowed mother.
In a hearing on Monday, Additional District Judge Varun Mohit Nigam, after completing a thorough investigation, declared the accused Aabid guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment and a Rs 51,000 fine.
