In a major bid to curb traffic, the Delhi Traffic Police on Saturday issued an advisory for April 12, 2026, in the nearby areas for Qutub Minar and Mehrauli Archaeological Park. According to the advisory, traffic will be restricted in the region for about five hours, from 4.00 PM to 9.00 PM, due to the expected high volume of vehicles during those hours. 

Traffic movement is likely to be affected on key routes, including:

  • Anuvrat Marg
  • Crescent Road
  • Kalka Dass Marg and nearby areas.

Heavy and commercial vehicles will not be allowed towards:

  • Qutub Minar via Phool Mandi
  • Masjid Haji Ali Jan
  • Kalka Dass Marg

Key Guidelines:

  • No parking or halting permitted on affected roads; violators will be towed
  • Heavy/commercial vehicles will not be allowed in either of the affected locations.
  • Use of public transportation, particularly the Metro, is recommended for your commute.
  • There are alternative routes available via Aurobindo Marg and other streets.
  • Stay updated via official traffic police channels

On the other hand, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is organising a week-long awareness campaign on safety in using Lifts and Escalators across the Delhi Metro network. The Delhi Metro, at present, is operating and maintaining 965 Lifts, 1297 escalators, and 42 Travelators in its total network, ANI quoted a press release.

Metro Safety Drive Highlights:

  • Awareness campaign regarding the safe use of lifts and escalators
  • Recruitment of volunteers and staff to assist passengers and customers with safety banners/posters while on station premises
  • Focus on special assistance for senior citizens and individuals with physical disabilities
  • The initiative is part of DMRC's Safety Awareness Week to avoid the occurrence of accidents

According to DMRC officials, the goal of the DMRC's Metro Safety Drive is to proactively reduce the number of accidents that occur due to the negligence of passengers and to make commuting safer for all passengers.
