DTC Bus Accident: In a tragic incident, two people including a police constable died after they were hit by an uncontrolled Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus in the Civil Lines area of the national capital on Sunday. 

The DTC bus hit a person and a police constable from the PS Civil Lines before crashing into a divider near Monastery Market on Ring Road. They were taken to a hospital, however, declared dead on arrival.

According to news agency ANI, the deceased police constable has been identified as 27-year-old Victor, a resident of Nagaland, who was on patrolling duty on the PCR bike. He was posted in Civil Lines Police Station since June 2023 while the identity of the other deceased had not been identified yet.

The Delhi Police said that they received information about the incident around 10.38 pm on Sunday. An investigation into the matter revealed that the DTC bus, which veered off its designated route, ran onto the pavement, striking a billboard pole with such force that it was uprooted from its base. The collision also caused the bus to hit a civilian and a police constable from PS Civil Lines. 

Meanwhile, the driver of the bus identified as 57-year-old Vinod Kumar has been taken into police custody. The Delhi Police said that legal action has been initiated into the matter. 

In another incident that took place on October 31, two passengers sustained burn injuries after crackers caught fire in a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). An inquiry revealed that a passenger who was carrying a small quantity of crackers caught fire on the bus.
