Delhi Weather: Delhi-NCR region is set to witness rain this week due to western disturbances. The showers are likely to begin at the start of February as two western disturbances are expected to arrive one after the other in late January. As per the forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the first western disturbance will be active in the upper part of the Himalayas on January 29. Immediately after this, a second western disturbance will also show its effect on February 1, the forecast said. As a result of the two western disturbances, the hilly regions are likely to witness snowfall.

The IMD has forecast rain in Delhi in the final days of January. During the same time, showers are also expected in Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh between January 30 and February 1. Over the past few weeks, several flights and trains operating from Delhi got delayed or cancelled due to the dense fog.

Several of the southern states, including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh are too expected to receive heavy rainfall in the upcoming days. Apart from this, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are expected to receive fresh spell of rain from Jan 29 to Feb 1, leading to a possible dip in the temperature.

North India Weather 

The weather department has also forecast cold waves to intensify in some parts of north Indian states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Rajasthan till Monday.

Thereafter, the minimum temperature in the northern plains may rise by up to two to four degrees, the weather forecast said. After the Western Disturbance subsides, a drop in temperature can be seen once again.

The IMD stated that while the weather in the central region of the country is not likely to change in the upcoming two days, the temperature in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra is likely to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the upcoming week.
