"Due to shifting wind patterns in the vicinity of the airport, certain airline operations may experience delays. Air traffic flow management measures for Flight Arrivals will be implemented from 1230 IST to 1630 IST today at ATC authorities to ensure safe operations, in accordance with international and regulatory protocols, keeping passenger safety as the highest priority," it said in its statement.

"All other operations across terminals and the three runways at Delhi Airport continue to function normally. Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their respective Airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding," it further added.

Earlier, airport authorities had announced that Terminal 2 of Indira Gandhi International Airport would remain closed until further notice.

This comes after the IMD forecast predicts strong wind activity in the capital throughout Friday. For April 19, the forecast includes thunderstorms with lightning, strong surface winds, and the possibility of light to very light rainfall. Similar strong winds are expected to continue during the daytime on April 20.

Meanwhile, passengers flying out of Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 1 on Tuesday faced major delays after a technical glitch disrupted the check-in process. The issue happened on the first day of operations being moved from Terminal 2, which is temporarily closed for maintenance.

"We experienced a technical issue at T1 check-in. Our teams along with stakeholders are resolving it and operations are normalising. We regret the inconvenience caused,” Delhi International Airport had said in its statement.

Delhi Weather Forecast

The IMD forecast cloudy skies over Delhi-NCR for the next two days, with chances of light rain in some areas. A yellow alert has been issued for Saturday, as the expected rainfall is likely to bring some relief from the intense heat by causing a slight dip in temperatures.

It also mentioned that the national capital is expected to see similar weather conditions over the next few days. On Friday, the maximum temperature is forecast to reach 39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to stay around 25 degrees Celsius.
