Delhi Weather Update:  The weather department has forecast cold wave conditions at isolated places in Delhi until December 15. The sky will be mostly clear during the day, with smog and mist expected to be present on Friday morning. The evening and nighttime are predicted to bring more smog and mist. Delhi's minimum temperature fell to 4.5 degrees Celsius on Thursday, making it the coldest December day in the last three years.

According to the forecast, cold wave conditions will continue throughout the weekend in certain isolated locations.

Wednesday's high was 4.9 degrees Celsius, while Thursday's low was 4.5 degrees, 0.4 degrees below average, according to the India Meteorological Department.

The temperature had dropped dramatically from 5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

Data shows that in December 2023 and 2022, the minimum temperature did not go below 4.9 degrees Celsius.

The lowest minimum temperature recorded in December last year was 4.9 degrees Celsius on the 15th, while the lowest in 2022 was 5 degrees Celsius on the 26th.

In Delhi, isolated locations such as Ayanagar and Pusa saw cold wave conditions, with temperatures falling to 3.8 and 3.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The India Meteorological Department states that when actual temperatures drop below 4.1 degrees Celsius or when the deviation from normal is 4.4 degrees Celsius or more below average, cold wave conditions occur.

According to the IMD, the day's highest temperature was 22.2 degrees Celsius, which is 0.8 degrees lower than usual.
