Delhi-Meerut RRTS Update: Trial runs on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS route between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar is advancing rapidly. Meanwhile, Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar stations are planned to open shortly. Once operational, the length of the RRTS corridor would be increased from 42 to 54 kilometres, allowing Namo Bharat train services to travel between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South in about 40-45 minutes.

The new Ashok Nagar station, located near Noida, would improve connection for passengers from both Delhi and Noida. This RRTS station, designed as a multimodal transportation hub, will connect to the Delhi Metro's Blue Line. A 90-metre foot overbridge (FOB) is being built to connect the New Ashok Nagar RRTS station to the Ashok Nagar Metro station.

This connection would enable passengers to switch effortlessly between the two ways of transportation, reducing congestion and making travel easier, particularly for women, the elderly, and families with children or luggage. In addition, two parking lots with a total capacity of 600 vehicles will be supplied, including spots for cars, motorbikes, and bicycles.

First 10 Mins Parking Free

The first 10 minutes of parking will be free, making it convenient for customers using the "pick and drop" service. Meanwhile, the underground Anand Vihar RRTS station is expected to become one of the corridor's busiest transit hubs. It will connect to two metro lines (blue and pink), Anand Vihar railway station, and two ISBTs, one to Delhi and the other to Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh.

This will ensure a high level of foot traffic every day. The NCRTC is working to seamlessly integrate the RRTS station with these modes of transportation, establishing it as a paradigm for multimodal connectivity. Three new bridges have been built across the Ghazipur drain to expand accessibility even more.
