Bengaluru News: Amid debates on traffic congestion in Bengaluru, an image of the city's bus stand from 1994 has appeared online. The image has given a fresh angle to the debate, as the space could be seen as less congested, and buses could be seen properly placed. The post immediately went viral on several social media platforms, drawing mixed reactions from the netizens.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), a user posted two pictures—one showing a less crowded bus stand and the other showing the clock with the time reading 9.05 AM on it. In his post, he wrote about how people destroyed the city. "Majestic bus stand in Bengaluru on a cloudy day in 1994 at peak hour 9.05 AM What did we do to this city?" he wrote in his post on X.

How Did Social Media Users React?

The post got several reactions from the social media users. In the mixed response, while many of the netizens agreed with the author, adding that the urge to develop the city, we destroyed it completely. The others pointed out that the bus stand does not look developed, and the development in the city has provided the residents a better lifestyle and better mode of transportation. However, some of the users pointed out that while development was essential, it was not sustainable and well-planned in the case of the Silicon City of India.

"Population explosion , new industry mushroomed job opportunities, MNCs entry to Bengaluru , Educated people from across India were invited to join these MNCs who had requisite skillsets and so were expats," one of the users pointed out.

"Its a bit oxymoron statement dont you think, development has its own byproducts and we cant have best of both. Our govts did not have a concrete development plan and we are paying the price of that development now. Hopefully as citizens we can come together and revive this," other stated. Bengaluru saw significant growth in the 90s and in the next two decades.
