DHL Courier Scam: People are getting duped easily these days as scamsters try different new and unique ideas to commit fraud. After online scams, several people in recent times have fallen prey to DHL courier delivery scams not only in India but in Singapore and Ireland too. Now, you must be wondering what type of scam is this. This type of fraud is done by copying the DHL's exact shade of yellow, along with its design, typeface, tone, and language.
What Is DHL Courier Scam? DHL being a global carrier, makes it easy for scamsters to dupe people across the globe. The DHL Courier scam works identically to the actual DHL courier services. If you've used a courier service before, you're familiar with the procedure where they either call you if a delivery can't be made or leave a missed delivery notice if you're unreachable. DHL scamsters follow this approach as well, and their missed delivery message also contains a QR code and instructions for rescheduling the delivery.
DHL Courier Scam: How Can You Save Yourself From Getting Duped? You can always remain alert and save yourself from falling prey to such scams. You just need to keep a check of the following things:
1. DHL uses a standard template, about the size of a medium postcard, for missed delivery notices. A valid DHL missed delivery notice will have a QR code and a link directing you to the official DHL website, rather than any other website.
2. Whenever you receive a missed delivery note, verify the waybill number on the official courier website. You can confirm the authenticity of the delivery, and if it's fraudulent, it will be evident.
3. DHL never asks you for any charges in case you reschedule your delivery. If you are asked to make any kind of payment for the same, that's your sign. You know when to stop and report a fraud.
4. It’s essential to leave the website and contact DHL immediately if you are redirected to a site other than its official website.
5. Check your e-commerce accounts to see if any recent orders are being shipped by DHL. If in doubt, you can contact DHL India’s customer service to verify the authenticity of the missed delivery note.
