Dwarka Expressway Update: The road and transport ministry on Wednesday stated that a part of the Dwarka Expressway is going to open on May 29, providing a major relief to the commuters from Delhi to Gurugram. The ministry also stated that there will be fixed timing for vehicular movement, as the stretch will be open only on a trial basis. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had advised the commuters to follow the guidelines and plan their journey accordingly to avoid any inconveniences. "The trials run mark a significant step toward enhancing mobility and reducing congestion in Delhi NCR. The underpasses opened for the trial run will include a Shallow Tunnel connecting Dwarka / Yashobhumi to Airport through Airport Underpasses & vice versa. Further, users can also ply towards Gurugram (towards Sirhaul) from Dwarka / Yashobhumi through Shallow Tunnel & Right Turn Underpass," the road ministry stated. "Moreover, a combination of airport Underpasses along with Right turn underpass can be used from Terminal 3 to Gurugram (towards Sirhaul)," the ministry added.

The 3.6-kilometer-long tunnel has a total of eight lanes and has been constructed beneath the IGI Airport premises and is directly connected to Alipur's Singhu Border. The officials stated that the tunnel will also provide convenience to the flight passengers, as they will no longer need to travel through the busy routes. The tunnel will also provide relief to passengers traveling from Gurugram, Faridabad, and Manesar to northern cities like Sonipat, Panipat, and Chandigarh.
