Gujarat Earthquake: An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 magnitude was recorded in Gujarat on Friday. According to the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR), the earthquake was recorded at 10:15 pm with its epicentre located 13 km south south-west of Patan. Reports from northern districts of Banaskantha, Patan, Sabarkantha and Mehsana claimed that tremors were felt for two to three seconds.
A magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred on November 15, 2024, at 10:15:37 PM IST. The epicenter was located 13 km SSW of Patan, North Gujarat, with coordinates at latitude 23.742 and longitude 72.065. While people came out of their houses after feeling the seismic movement, no casualty or loss of property was reported in the region, officials of the state control room in Gandhinagar said as quoted by news agency PTI.
The state has suffered nine major earthquakes in the past 200 years including the devastating earthquake of January 26, 2001, in Kutch district, as per the data provided by the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA).
In September, Delhi-NCR felt earthquake tremors after a quake of 5.8 magnitude hit neighbouring Pakistan. The earthquake hit Pakistan at 12:58 pm (IST) today, according to National Center for Seismology.
The epicentre of the earthquake was reported to be in Pakistan, located at a depth of 33 kilometres. "EQ of M: 5.8, On: 11/09/2024 12:58:03 IST, Lat: 31.25 N, Long: 70.52 E, Depth: 33 Km, Location: Pakistan," the NCS posted on X.
The tremors of the earthquake were also felt in Noida, Gurugram and several states of west and north India, including Rajasthan.
