A day ahead of the first phase of the assembly election in Chhattisgarh, CM Bhupesh Baghel questioned why the Election Commission has not taken cognizance of the allegations against him in the Mahadev Betting App case. He also added that a press release was issued by ED and a video was released by BJP, adding that ED is BJP and BJP is ED.

"When ED has released a press release to defame someone, then Election Commission should take cognizance of this. Press release was issued by ED and video was released by BJP...ED is BJP and BJP is ED," Baghel said as quoted by news agency ANI.

The Congress accused the Centre on Monday of delaying the imposition of a ban on the Mahadev app, despite Baghel seeking action against the betting platform months ago. The party said that the government acted against Bagehl instead of praising him for the early demand for a ban on the app. It also added that the people will give a befitting reply to the BJP is the polls.

The Centre has ordered to block 22 illegal betting platforms, including the Mahadev app and Reddyannaprestopro, on the Enforcement Directorate's request, an official statement said on Sunday. Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar alleged the Chhattisgarh government did not send any request to block these platforms despite having the power to do so.

"The demand to ban Mahadev App was also first raised by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on August 24, 2023. Instead of praising him, the Prime Minister deployed ED against him," Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh shared on X.
