Fact Check: A picture of Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate with an elderly man has been circulated on social media with claims that the man in the photo is former Congress leader Ramesh Chandra Tiwari.
Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found it to be fake. The photo shows Supriya with her father, Late Harshvardhan Shrinate, a former Member of Parliament from Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh.
What is going viral?
An X user Dinesh Tripathi posted a picture on Sept 9, 2025, with the caption, "The stories of Ramesh Chandra Tiwari and former senior editor of Times Group, Supriya Shrinate's affair have been viral for a long time. And Supriya's affair stories do not stop here. While being a journalist, she used to meet people like Dawood Ibrahim frequently. Now, after entering politics, she meets more foreign guests and anti-India foreign forces. Apart from her husband, Shahbaz Sharif Munir, Supriya is seen showing more love to the American husband in the picture at the behest of Rahul Gandhi."
Several other social media users have shared this video with similar claims. The content of the viral post has been edited to remove the offensive words. An archived version can be viewed here.

Investigation
Vishvas News first scanned Supriya Shrinate's social media handle, X, to verify the viral post. We found a post dated September 9, 2025. In it, she cited a user and wrote, "To those who are posting nonsense about my photo with my father, please delete this post and apologise or be prepared for the legal consequences I will inflict on you. You will regret it deeply—remember this. I will not tolerate this at any cost."

During our investigation, we found the original photo on Supriya's former account, uploaded on October 4, 2020, remembering her father. Now, the same photo is being misused and widely circulated by some social media users.

Vishvas News further investigated and contacted Girish Kumar, a member of the Congress's social media team, who confirmed that the viral post was highly objectionable and that Supriya is pictured with her father.
In a report by Jagran.com, "Late. Harsh Vardhan has a strong political base in Maharajganj. He was elected MP from here twice and MLA from the Farenda assembly constituency once. In the 1989 Lok Sabha elections, he defeated Congress candidate Jitendra Singh on a Janata Dal ticket. In the 2009 general elections, he won again on a Congress ticket. In this election, he defeated BSP candidate Ganesh Shankar Pandey. Harsh Vardhan received 3.05 lakh votes, while Ganesh Shankar Pandey, who came second, had to settle for 1.81 lakh."

Another photo is going viral, claiming a meeting between underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Supriya. In the latest viral post, the same tactic was used. The second photo features a woman sitting with Dawood. Vishvas News has fact-checked this photo several times before. This woman is not Supriya, but journalist Sheela Bhatt, who interviewed Dawood at Dubai's Pearl Building in 1987.
Vishwas News' fact-check report can be read in detail here.
Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found the viral post to be fake. A photo of Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate with her late father has been misused with an offensive, false claim to malign her image.
