Bomb Threats To Flights: The grave issue of targeting Indian airline operations continued even on Saturday as many flights belonging to major Indian airlines were forced to make emergency landings after they received bomb threats, an official said. More than 30 flights were targeted in the fresh bomb scare today. So far this week, at least 70 flights of Indian carriers have received bomb threats and most of them turned out to be hoaxes.
On Saturday, Vistara said five of its flights on international routes received security threats through social media while IndiGo said at least four of its flights got security-related alerts. In at least one of the flights, a note was found in the lavatory saying there was a bomb in the flight.
Five international flights of Indigo received bomb threats. These are 6E 11, 6E 17, 6E 58, 6E 108, and 6E 184, the officials said. The airline said that it is cooperating with the authorities and taking all necessary measures for the safety and security of the passengers.
Multiple Indigo Flights Get Security Alert
IndiGo flight 6E 17 from Mumbai to Istanbul and flight 6E 11 from Delhi to Istanbul were both in operation, while flight 6E 184, travelling from Jodhpur to Delhi, was grounded at Indira Gandhi International Airport following a bomb threat, according to the airline.
“Flight 6E 184, operating from Jodhpur to Delhi received a security-related alert. The aircraft has landed in Delhi and customers have disembarked the aircraft, we are coordinating with the security agencies as per procedure. Ensuring the safety and security of our customers and crew remains paramount in all facets of our operations,” IndiGo airline said in an official statement.

According to a News18 report, flight numbers AI 101, AI 105, AI 126, 119, and AI 161 were disrupted due to the fresh threats. The airline has not yet officially confirmed the incident.
Akasa Air Confirms Threats
Meanwhile, Akasa Air also confirmed that some of its flights have received security alerts.
“Some of our flights operating on October 19, 2024, have received security alerts today. The Akasa Air Emergency Response teams are monitoring the situation and are in touch with the security and regulatory authorities. We are following all safety and security procedures in coordination with local authorities and the Akasa Air teams on the ground are prepared to assist passengers to ensure their safety and comfort," an Akasa spokesperson said as reported by ANI.
Air India Express Flight Makes Emergency Landing
An Air India Express flight IX-196, flying from Dubai to Jaipur made an emergency landing at the Jaipur International Airport after it received a bomb threat via email during the early hours of Saturday.
In the past few days, more than 40 flights operated by the Indian carriers have received bomb threats which later turned out to be hoaxes. The Civil Aviation Ministry plans to put in place strict norms to prevent incidents of hoax bomb threats to airlines, including placing the perpetrators on the no-fly list.
