A protest was reported outside Darbhanga airport in Bihar after flights from Bengaluru to Darbhanga got canceled because of the poor weather. A total of 327 flights took off from Bengaluru but were later diverted and landed in the startup city after the weather got even worse. The passengers waiting for the flights at Darbhanga started protesting upon receiving the flight cancellation news at the last moment.
The angered passengers started protesting and raising slogans against the airport authorities, blaming them for neglecting the passengers. The protest continued for almost 30 minutes, and few of the passengers demanded that a penalty should be imposed on the airlines for wasting their time and money. Many of the airport officials tried to manage the escalated situation by talking to the passengers and acknowledged that prior information should have been given in the case of cancelation.
However, most of the frustrated passengers started exiting the airport after half an hour, trying to find an alternative route to Bengaluru. While most of the passengers returned to their home in disappointment, few of them booked a ticket from Patna airport to Bengaluru.
Ritesh Kumar Gupta of Muzaffarpur district informed that he booked flight tickets for 4 people on Monday, which cost him a hefty Rs 60,000. He said that the airport authority informed that the flight is delayed by more than an hour and will take off at 3.55 AM. However, they were later informed that the flight was canceled because of the poor weather. He further stated that his clothing business and the study of his children are getting affected because of the delay.
