Ahead of the G20 Summit 2023, life-size cutouts of langoors have been put up in Delhi in order to stop monkeys from entering G20 meeting venues. Rhesus monkeys are a menace in many areas in India's national capital, running across busy roads without warning - putting both themselves and motorists at risk - and often attacking unsuspecting pedestrians or residents.

"Large cutouts of langoors have been put up at several places. Monkeys do not want to come close to these cutouts placed near important locations like Sardar Patel Marg and Shastri Bhawan, as they get scared and return to their natural habitat. Monkeys cannot be displaced, harmed or hit. We have around 30-40 trained people as well to keep monkeys away from such locations," said Satish Upadhyay, the vice-chairperson of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), which is carrying out the work.

Preparations are in full swing as India is to host the G20 Summit on September 9-19, with several global leaders being a part of the event. Many cultural pragramme, mostly the cultural musical programme, will be held, showcasing the cultural heritage of India. Besides this, a variety of different dishes are being prepared to outshine the regional cuisine of the country, and street foods of India, as well as giving exposure to millets.

Speaking about the preparations, Muktesh Pardeshi, who is the Special Secretary and the head of operations and logistics of India’s G20 secretariat, in an exclusive interview with ANI said that there will be approximately 40 plus delegations that will arrive at the leader’s level.
