On the directions of the Election Commission, a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive was conducted to prepare a clean and updated voter list. After the first phase of the exercise, the total number of voters in Ghaziabad’s five assembly constituencies declined from 28.38 lakh to 20.19 lakh.
According to officials, Ghaziabad has ranked as one of the highest districts in Uttar Pradesh regarding the number of voters being adjusted during this SIR process primarily due to the City's implementation of having a temporary, transient and largely mobile population. Before the start of this process, many residents had Voter registrations in duplicate, thus Voter registrations were adjusted as a result of this process, eliminating duplicates on the voter list that were found.

Male voters increased from 11,45,798 to 12,65,405, while female voters rose from 8,73,932 to 9,97,978.
