Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), has been admitted to hospital in Kuwait. He was part of an all-party Indian delegation currently touring several countries in the Gulf region.
The news of Azad’s hospitalisation was confirmed by BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda, who is leading the delegation. In a post shared on X, Panda stated that Azad is stable and under medical care and will undergo a few medical tests and procedures. He also mentioned that Azad’s presence will be missed in the upcoming stops of the tour.
Panda wrote, “Halfway into our delegation's tour, Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad had to be admitted to hospital. His contributions in Bahrain and Kuwait were significant and although he is disappointed to be bedridden, we will deeply miss him in Saudi Arabia and Algeria.”

The delegation is visiting Gulf countries to meet political leaders, officials and members of the Indian community. Their main focus is to counter Pakistan’s attempts to spread misinformation about India and to strengthen diplomatic ties.
The exact hospital or location where Azad is being treated has not been revealed yet.
Before falling ill, Azad had addressed meetings in Bahrain and Kuwait. During his Kuwait visit, he criticised Pakistan for promoting false information that, according to him, adds to tensions with India.
Speaking to media, Azad said, “Pakistan has a habit of spreading disinformation. Today’s meetings helped clarify many such issues, and I believe earlier misunderstandings have been cleared.”
Azad also said the Indian delegation presented a message of unity, highlighting that people of all religions in India live together peacefully. “Political debates may happen in Parliament, but when it comes to the nation, we all stand united,” he added.
