Goa Club Fire: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed their grief and condoled the loss of ‘precious lives’ in the tragic fire incident in North Goa. The fatal blaze that occurred in a club named Birch By Romeo Lane in Arpora, Goa, claimed 23 lives, injuring over 50 others.

President Droupadi Murmu Expresses Condolence

Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, the President of India wished a speedy recovery to the injured. Through a post on X, the President said, “Deeply pained by the tragic fire incident in North Goa district resulting in the loss of precious lives. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. May they find strength during this difficult time. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.”

PM Modi Speaks To CM Sawant

Prime Minister Modi has also expressed sorrow over the unfortunate incident and assured full state support after holding talks with the Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant.

PM Modi, making a post on X, said, “The fire mishap in Arpora, Goa, is deeply saddening. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest. Spoke to Goa CM Dr Pramod Sawant Ji about the situation. The State Government is providing all possible assistance to those affected."

Goa Club Fire Occurred Around Midnight

The devastating fire at the restaurant-cum-club named Birch By Romeo Lane in Arpora, North Goa, occurred around midnight, and first responders rushed to the scene. Injured people were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment as authorities worked through the night to bring the blaze under control. CM Sawant later confirmed the death of 23 individuals.

People who were killed in the fire included 19 club staff and three to four tourists, news agency PTI reported, quoting CM Sawant. The kitchen workers killed comprised three female staff.

Goa Club Fire: State Announces Inquiry

Describing what happened as ‘unfortunate’, CM Pramod Sawant assured stringent action against those guilty of the incident.

“The incident is very unfortunate for a tourism state like Goa. The people who run such things illegally, and a fire incident occurred...23 people have lost their lives...The government will conduct an inquiry into this incident. The inquiry will examine the exact cause of the fire, and those found responsible will face the most stringent action under the law.…” Sawant stated.
