Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday ordered the demolition of the illegal ‘Romeo Lane’ beach shack in Vagator, owned by brothers Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra. Interpol has issued a Blue Corner notice against the duo, who reportedly flew to Thailand soon after the nightclub fire, according to a PTI report. The action comes as authorities intensify efforts to trace the brothers, accused in the Arpora nightclub blaze that killed 25 people.

A senior CMO official said the chief minister has directed the North Goa district administration to complete all formalities and proceed with the demolition of the shack. “This structure was illegally built on government land and will be demolished on Tuesday. The district administration has all machinery ready,” the official said.

Following the Saturday night fire tragedy, the administration sealed the Vagator shack and another property in Assagao on Monday.

According to Goa Police, the Luthra brothers flew to Thailand early Sunday morning, just hours after a massive blaze gutted their North Goa nightclub-cum-restaurant, Birch by Romeo Lane. Officials said Indian agencies are coordinating with Thai authorities to geolocate the brothers in Phuket and are seeking their deportation on the basis of an arrest warrant, bypassing a lengthier extradition process.

“The Bureau of Immigration at Mumbai was contacted and it was found that both the accused had taken flight 6E 1073 (New Delhi to Phuket) at 5.30am on 7th December,” deputy superintendent of police and public relations officer Nilesh Rane said.
