Goa Nightclub Fire: The Saket Court in Delhi has granted a 36-hour transit remand to Goa Police for the arrested suspect, Ajay Gupta, in connection with the Arpora nightclub fire tragedy that resulted in 25 deaths and numerous injuries. The court has instructed the Goa Police to provide medical treatment to Gupta, who is reportedly facing health issues.

Ajay Gupta, the accused, was brought before the Saket Court in Delhi for remand proceedings after being detained by the Goa Police the previous day.

A Lookout Circular (LOC) had been issued against Gupta. When police visited his home in Delhi, they discovered he had fled, prompting the issuance of a non-bailable arrest warrant.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police informed the Rohini Court that the accused brothers, Gaurav and Saurav Luthra, had left the country shortly after the Goa club fire incident. A Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) had already been issued against them by a Goa court.

The state opposed the Luthra brothers request for protection, arguing that they were deliberately evading investigation and should not be granted any interim relief.

The accused, through their counsel, expressed concerns about being arrested immediately upon their return to India. They explained that their trip to Thailand was for work purposes and that they now wished to return, but feared custodial action. Their lawyers emphasised that the brothers were seeking brief transit protection to allow them to approach the appropriate court in Goa.

The Rohini Court took up the Transit anticipatory bail applications on Wednesday and questioned their maintainability, noting that the applicants were not presently within the territorial jurisdiction.
