The Gujarat Police on Sunday nabbed AAP leader Chaitar Vasava on attempt to murder charges, PTI reported. Vasava is a sitting MLA from Dediapada. Vasava allegedly attacked a taluka panchayat functionary on Saturday during a meeting in his constituency.
As per the FIR, cited by PTI, Vasava got agitated after raising objections over his nominee not being considered for appointment as a member of the 'Aapno Taluko Vibrant Taluko' (ATVT), a local-level coordination committee.

He allegedly abused the woman president of Sagbara taluka panchayat. When Dediapda taluka panchayat president Sanjay Vasava objected, Vasava hurled his cell phone at him, which hit his forehead. He also tried to throw a glass at him, however, the police prevented him from doing so, as per the FIR.
He also allegedly threatened to kill Sanjay. The FIR was registered against him under Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 79 (insulting the modesty of a woman through words, gestures), 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351 (3) (criminal intimidation), 352 (intentional insult) and 324 (3) (damage to property) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The AAP leaders have slammed the police action against Vasava, asserting that the latter was arrested as he had been proactively exposing the BJP’s ‘corruption’ in Gujarat.
Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal said the BJP was unnerved over their defeat in the Visavadar by-election, adding that AAP leaders will not be intimidated by such moves.

"BJP has arrested AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava in Gujarat. After losing the Visavadar by-election to AAP, the BJP is rattled. If they think such arrests will intimidate AAP, they are making a huge mistake. The people of Gujarat are fed up with BJP's misgovernance, goondaism, and dictatorship. Now, the people will give BJP a fitting reply," he posted on X.
