As many as 19 people have lost their lives in horrific floods triggered by incessant rains in Gujarat, bringing the death toll over the past three days to 30. Over 17,800 people have been relocated to safer areas from the flood-affected regions.

The administration, along with the NDRF, SDRF, Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Coast Guard, is ardently involved in relief and rescue operations. The teams rescued 95 people, who were trapped in the flood-hit areas.

Heavy Rain alert in 12 districts:

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a red alert for heavy rain in 12 districts of Gujarat. These include--Kachchh, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Morbi, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagarh, Gir Somnath, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Botad.

Besides, the weather department has issued a yellow alert in other 22 districts.

The weather department reported that the deep depression over Saurashtra and Kachchh is likely to strengthen as it heads toward the northeast Arabian Sea, leading to continued heavy rainfall across the region.

Flooding in the Vishwamitri River has caused water to inundate several low-lying areas of Vadodara. A total of 137 reservoirs and lakes, as well as 24 rivers, are flowing above the danger mark. Due to heavy rainfall, water has accumulated on roads and railway tracks, leading to the cancellation of eight trains, including the Vande Bharat Express to Mumbai.

PM Modi talks to CM Patel:

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reviewed the relief and rescue operations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with him to take stock of the situation. He stated that PM Modi has assured all possible assistance from the Centre.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, expressed concern over the flood situation in Gujarat and urged the government to take all necessary steps to mitigate the impact of the natural disaster.
