Gujarat recorded 183 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, raising the number of active infections in the state to 822, according to the state health department. Although the daily tally saw a rise, no fatalities were reported in the past 24 hours.

Out of the current active cases, 29 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals, while the remaining 793 are in home isolation. Additionally, 78 people recovered from the infection and were discharged.

So far, only one fatality has been reported since the resurgence of Covid-19 cases in this latest wave. Health officials confirmed that all recent cases in the state are linked to Omicron sub-variants specifically JN.1, LF.7, LF.7.9, and XFG which typically result in mild symptoms such as low-grade fever and cough.

In light of the surge, the health department has advised people experiencing cold and cough symptoms to wear masks, maintain proper hand hygiene, and use sanitisers regularly. Individuals with underlying health conditions or comorbidities have been urged to avoid crowded public spaces to minimise the risk of infection.
