As many as 11,900 people have been evacuated from low-lying areas in Gujarat in the wake of torrential rains that continue to lash several parts of the state, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said on Monday. Several areas in the Bharuch district got inundated after all the gates of the Sardar Sarovar Dam were opened following heavy rains on Sunday.
Here are the top updates in Gujarat where heavy rains since Sunday have severely impacted normal life:
1. 11,900 people have been evacuated from low-lying areas in Vadodara, Bharuch, Narmada, Dahod, Panchmahal, Anand, and Gandhinagar districts, CM Patel informed.
2. As many as 270 stranded citizens were rescued by the administration while work is underway to clear roads by removing fallen trees, the Chief Minister added.
3. Twelve people were rescued by the Army and villagers at Barkal village of Vadodara district after the Narmada River witnessed a rise in water level.

4. According to authorities, over 6,000 people living along the banks of Narmada in Bharuch district have been shifted to safer places.

5. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said 'extremely heavy rainfall' in Arvalli, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, and Sabarkantha districts of Gujarat during the 24 hours ended 08:30 am on Monday
6. Water level of Narmada measured at the Golden Bridge between Ankleshwar and Bharuch went down to 37.2 feet on Monday from the earlier 40 feet, which is 12 feet above the danger mark of 28 feet.
7. Flood-like situations persisted in Gujarat's Bharuch district after all 23 sluice gates of the Sardar Sarovar Dam built on the Narmada river were opened on Sunday in view of heavy rains.

8. On Sunday, water levels were recorded at over 40 feet, on the Narmada river between Bharuch and Ankleshwar, forcing the suspension of railway traffic and cancellations.
9. The IMD predicted 'light to moderate' rainfall at various places throughout the state on Monday and Tuesday.
10. According to the State Emergency Operations Centre, 29 tehsils in Gujarat received over 40 mm of rainfall within eight hours, between 6 am and 2 pm, on Monday.
