Gujarat Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday stated that several districts of Gujarat are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall for the next seven days. The weather department stated that while the coastal regions are expected to witness heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and gusty winds, the other districts are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall. The rainfall is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the IMD stated that several districts, including Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, and Navsari, are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall on July 16. It further stated that the possibility of rainfall in Gujarat has increased due to a low-pressure area in North Rajasthan. The weather department stated that the northern and southern parts of the state are likely to receive rainfall till July 22. Apart from rainfall, these regions are also likely to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 50-60 kmph.
The IMD further stated that light to moderate rainfall is expected in several districts, including Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, and Mahisagar, between July 17 and 22. Apart from this, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, and Valsad are also expected to witness rainfall during this period of time.
The weather department also stated that while the rainfall is likely to reduce the temperature, it is also likely to lead to other issues, including waterlogging and power cuts. Apart from Gujarat, several other states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and Bihar, are also likely to receive light to heavy rainfall at least till July 20.
