Gurugram Fire News: A massive fire broke out in the slums in the Sector 54 area of the city on Friday. More than 300 slums were burned due to the fire. Due to the fire, the entire area was shaken by the explosion of small and big LPG cylinders kept in the slums. More than ten fire brigades arrived from Sector 29 fire station and other fire stations to extinguish the fire and completely control the fire in about five hours, reports jagran.com.
People nearby also got scared due to the flames and smoke. The cause of the fire could not be known at this time. There is a possibility of a fire in one of the slums while cooking, and later, due to strong winds, the fire engulfed more than 300 nearby slums.
Firefighter Sudhir said that the fire had spread to a large area. Due to the fire, a lot of goods kept in the slums got burned. There has been no loss of life due to the fire. The fire was extinguished in about five hours with the help of more than ten fire brigades. About 500 slums were also built in this area. By immediately extinguishing the fire from all sides, the fire did not spread to other slums, which resulted in rescue.
In slums, people keep small and big LPG cylinders for cooking. As soon as the fire broke out, the cylinders kept in the slums started bursting one by one. However, no one got hit by these blasts. Firefighters also had trouble extinguishing the fire due to the cylinder burst. A lot of smoke was spread in the surrounding area.
The people living in the slums kept crying after seeing the goods kept in the slums burning in front of their eyes. A lot of goods were damaged due to burning. This is not the first incident of fire in slums in the city. Every year during the summer, fire breaks out in slums due to heat and wind. It is being investigated whether the slums in Sector 54 were situated on private land or whether they were encroachments on government land. Police also reached the spot after receiving information about the fire.
Slums are being established in the city on government or private land to collect rent. The rent charged for a slum ranges from fifteen hundred rupees to more than fifteen hundred rupees.
Earlier, on January 9, 2023, April 19, 2023 and September 11, 2023, there was damage due to fire in slums in Gurugram. Last year, 300 huts were burned down in a fire in village Ghasaul near Sector 49.
