Gurugram News: Following the measures to reduce traffic in Gurugram, the traffic police officials have written a letter to the construction agency to open the subway at Shankar Chowk. The subway is being built by the DLF Foundation on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. The subway will ease traffic, reduce accidents and allow pedestrians to cross the roads safely.

Currently, neither an underpass facility nor a footover bridge is present at the Shankar Chowk. While crossing the road, people's lives are at risk, and every year, two to three people lose their lives due to this. The subway is being constructed from Cyber City towards Udyog Vihar and is nearly 90 per cent completed, Jagran.com reported.

About two and a half years ago, the DCP Traffic issued instructions to build a subway. The construction was started by the DLF Foundation. Though the work was stalled for several months in 2024, it started again with momentum in November 2024.

The traffic police officials have written several letters to the construction agency to open the subway as soon as possible. Recently, the DCP Traffic has written a letter and instructed the agency to complete the construction. The subway is 90 per cent complete and is expected to open in the last week of June or the first week of July.

Due to the absence of any subway or FOB, traffic jams occur more frequently. Thousands of pedestrians cross the road every day, risking their lives.
