Anil Vij, former Haryana Minister and BJP candidate from Ambala for the state Assembly elections 2024 has staked his claim for the Chief Minister's post. During a press conference on Sunday, Vij said that he should be considered the next Chief Minister of Haryana, if the party returns to power in the state.

Notably, the Bharatiya Janata Party's central leadership has not announced any Chief Minister hopeful ahead of the polls, which are slated to take place on October 1. According to the schedule issued by the Election Commission, the results will be announced on October 4.

The six-time MLA from Ambala Cantt also released a personalised manifesto for the upcoming. Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Vij staked his claim for the Chief Minister's post by highlighting the work he undertook for the state.

Never Asked Anything From Party

"I am the most senior BJP legislator in Haryana. I have contested elections six times and won each time. Now, I am contesting for the seventh time. I have never asked my party for anything until now. But this time, on the demand of the people across Haryana, who are coming to meet me, I am staking my claim for the Chief Minister's post, based on my seniority. Whether or not I am made CM is up to the high command, but if I am, I will change Haryana's destiny and transform its image," Vij said amid the cheers from his supporters.
