IPS Puran Suicide Case: In a major update in the IPS Y Puran Kumar suicide case, ASI Sandeep Lathar, posted in the cyber cell of the IG's office and probing a corruption case against Puran Kumar, reportedly committed suicide at his residence in Rohatk district. In his four-page suicide note and a video, the deceased has made serious allegations against IPS Puran Kumar, accusing him of being involved in corruption. Lathar stated that the ADGP used to depute officers and make transfers based on caste and killed himself to avoid being caught.
ASI Sandeep Lathar claimed that the IPS Kumar was involved in multiple corruption cases, further demanding investigation against his family. "Roots of his corruption run very deep. He has committed suicide fearing the complaint against him," Sandeep Kumar alleged. He further stated that the ADGP called petitioners and mentally tortured them by asking for money.
"These people blocked files, called petitioners and mentally tortured them by asking for money. Women police personnel were sexually exploited in exchange for transfers," the ASI alleged. Lathar also targeted IPS Kumar's wife, IAS Amneet Kumar, by stating that she was also involved in the corruption cases. "Their assets must be probed. This is not a caste issue. Truth must come out. He was corrupt," he alleged.
"I am sacrificing my life for this truth. I am proud that I stand with honesty. This is important to awaken the country," the ASI added. Earlier on October 14, the Haryana government sent Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur on an infinite leave due to outrage post IPS Puran Kumar's suicide. IPS officer Om Prakash Singh has been appointed as the acting DGP of Haryana.
In the eight-page note, IPS Kumar accused the eight officers, including Kapur and former Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya, of harassment, discrimination, and maligning his image. Kumar also alleged instances of caste-based discrimination and professional isolation in his final message.
