Hazaribagh Communal Violence: A dispute over installing loudspeakers on the occasion of Mahashivratri in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district, led to a clash between two groups. The incident occurred in Dumraun village, under the Ichak police station area and later escalated into a scuffle, prompting police intervention to pacify the situation.
The matter was nearing resolution when members of one group allegedly began pelting stones from the premises of Upgraded Madhya Vidyalaya Dumairan. The violence intensified as the opposing side retaliated, turning the village into a battlefield for nearly an hour. During the unrest, a Boleno car and two motorcycles were also set on fire, a Jagran.com report stated.
Following the incident, the police converted Dumairan village into a high-security zone. Senior officials, including trainee IPS officer Shruti Agarwal, BDO Santosh Kumar and CO Ramji Prasad Gupta, have been stationed at the site. Two people have been arrested so far, and raids are underway to apprehend other suspects.

Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay confirmed that the situation is under control, with adequate police presence ensuring peace. The official stated that the authorities continue monitoring the situation, ensuring tensions do not escalate further.
Meanwhile, Union Minister and BJP MP from Ranchi, Sanjay Seth, strongly condemned the incident, linking it to a pattern of violence during Hindu festivals in Jharkhand. He attributed the unrest to alleged Bangladeshi infiltrators, urging the state government to take strict action and improve law and order. He called for identifying and expelling illegal immigrants, as done in BJP-ruled states like Assam, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
"Violence breaks out during idol immersion after Saraswati Puja. Violence breaks out during Ramnavami, during Holi, during Shiv Barat. Today is Mahashivratri. Who are the people who want to affect peace?...Nowhere in the country does violence happen. It happens in Jharkhand. Why? Because Bangladeshi infiltrators are affecting the demography and law & order," Sanjay Seth said.
