North India continues to reel under an intense heatwave, with several states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh experiencing extreme temperatures. While a few areas have seen brief respite due to cloud cover, thunderstorms, and isolated showers, the overall conditions remain severely hot.
The worst impact has been recorded in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, where temperatures have surged close to 46 degrees C.
Banda in Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest temperature in the state at 46.6 degrees C, making it the hottest district. In Rajasthan, Kota sizzled at 44.8 degrees C while Churu logged 43 degrees C. At least 10 cities in the state have reported temperatures above 40 degrees C, indicating a widespread and persistent heatwave.
Uttar Pradesh Under Severe Heat Stress
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), relief will remain limited for the next two days. Banda and Prayagraj are witnessing intense heatwave conditions that have significantly disrupted normal life. Kanpur also recorded a high of 45.7 degrees C. Officials have indicated that the heatwave is likely to continue until Monday, with a gradual improvement expected from Tuesday.

Rajasthan and Extreme Conditions in Rajasthan and Uttarakhand Also Affected
Rajasthan remains under severe heatwave conditions, with both eastern and western regions impacted by soaring temperatures. In Uttarakhand, April has turned out to be the hottest in 17 years, with Dehradun recording 39.2 degrees C. Anticipating further heat stress in the plains, the administration has ordered the closure of schools and anganwadi centres as a precautionary step.
With temperatures soaring across large parts of North India, the region continues to face a harsh and prolonged heatwave, with relief still a few days away.
