Himachal Bus Accident: As many as one person was killed, several were injured after a bus plunged into a 200-meter deep gorge in Himachal’s Mandi. The incident took place on Tuesday in the Sarkaghat subdivision when the bus was carrying more than 25 passengers towards Mandi. The locals came to the rescue of the injured and pulled them from the gorge.
A private bus of Thakur Coach going from Jahu to Mandi lost control and fell into a deep gorge near Kalkhar in the Patrighat area of Sarkaghat, Himachal Pradesh. One killed and several passengers were injured, news agency ANI reported.

The local villagers reached the accident spot immediately and started the rescue operation. They pulled the passengers from the bus and sent them for emergency treatment. Passengers who were severely injured were sent to Nerchowk Medical College, while others were sent to the Community Health Centre, Rewalsar.
When the accident took place, there were more than 25 passengers in the bus, Jagran.com reported. The evacuation work is underway. A crane was called to pull out a passenger who was stuck under the bus, and the driver who was stuck badly inside the bus.
According to the initial investigation reports, the private bus fell into the ditch because of the poor condition of the road and the negligence of the driver. The Sarkaghat police also reached the accident spot and evacuated the passengers.
The local administration has started investigating the accident. The administration has also assured to provide assistance to the relatives of the deceased. DSP Sarkaghat Sanjeev Gautam has confirmed that the bus fell into a deep gorge, and emergency services are underway.
