The schedule for the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet meeting has been finalised. Proposals for a proposed zip line near Dharamshala and the Taradevi-Shimla ropeway will be presented for approval during the meeting. A company has submitted a proposal to construct a two-kilometer-long zip line.

The Taradevi-Shimla ropeway could not previously receive approval through a single tender process. Consequently, a proposal to grant approval for this ropeway case will be tabled again. Additionally, a policy proposal regarding the appointment of Senior Resident doctors in medical colleges will be discussed.

These proposals are set to be brought up for approval in the Cabinet meeting scheduled for 11:00 am on January 19. The General Administration Department has informed all government departments regarding the meeting.

Focus On Tourism And Finance

The state government plans to promote adventure tourism activities in the region. During the meeting, the Finance Department will also deliver a presentation on the state's current financial situation.

Major Decision On Panchayat Elections

The Cabinet meeting will also include a detailed deliberation on the Panchayat elections. The High Court has ordered that elections be conducted before April 30. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has summoned officials for a crucial meeting on January 20. A major decision regarding the Panchayat elections is likely to be taken during the Cabinet meeting, just a day before the Commission's meeting.

Chief Minister To Meet Union Finance Minister

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is scheduled to visit Delhi on Wednesday morning. Reports suggest that during his visit, he may meet Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as well as several other Union Ministers. He is expected to demand a special financial assistance package and an increase in the state's existing credit limit.

He will also urge the Centre to immediately release the Rs 1,500 crore package announced by the Prime Minister. Furthermore, he plans to meet the Union Commerce Minister to demand that the import duty on apples arriving from New Zealand be increased to 100 per cent.
