Amid reports of cabinet reshuffle and change in the party's state president in Himachal Pradesh, Minister for Public Works of the state Vikramaditya Singh on Monday arrived in Delhi to meet party leaders. He met Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and congratulated her for victory in the Lok Sabha by-polls on Wayanad seat.
He discussed the functioning of the government and organisation of the party in the state. He also described the welfare policies and programs of several departments of the government. The sources familiar with the party suggests that the party is planning to make several changes after the ongoing budget session, reported Jagran.Com.
Besides, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also arrived in Delhi to meet several party senior leaders amid the changes in the organisation of the party. He is likely to meet senior party leaders on Tuesday and is likely to discuss the further strategies with them. He will also meet general secretary KC Venugopal and new in-charge of Himachal Pradesh Rajani Patil. Several reports suggest that along with the formation of the new executive in the State Congress Committee, the State President is also likely to be changed.
The three year tenure of the current Congress chief in the state Pratibha Singh is ending in this April and the party high command has reportedly started consulting the party workers for the new president. The reports suggest that the leaders from Shimla and Mandi are expected to be given bigger opportunities in the organisation.
Recent Changes In Organisation
The grand old party has recently changed several of the party office bearers to introduce a new energy and strategy. While the Congress appointed Rajya Sabha MP Rajani Patil as the in-charge of Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, B K Hariprasad has been appointed as the in-charge of Haryana. The grand old party appointed Harish Chaudhary as the in-charge of Madhya Pradesh, Girish Chodankar has been given the responsibility of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
